Are handmade greeting cards really worth it?

We think so! We don’t think of our fine art greeting cards and box sets as simply “greeting cards” …rather, each and every greeting card and box set of greeting cards is seen as a handmade work-of-art.  What better way to tell someone you care by sending him or her a unique, handmade work of art!

The handmade greeting cards and box sets seem expensive …

We believe our greeting cards and box sets are competitively priced. If you walk into a greeting card store or pharmacy, you’ll find many of the mass-produced and somewhat impersonal greeting cards priced at $3 or $4 on average. While our cards are $5.95 on average, they are also completely handmade and signed by the artist.  All materials used are of the highest quality and are acid-free.

What’s the difference between a handmade greeting card and a greeting card I can buy in a greeting card store?

While manufactured greeting cards are generally designed by artists, they are usually printed in mass quantities in large and cold impersonal factories usually oversees. All of Kelly Fitzgerald | Fine Art Cards are handmade in the U.S.A., in the artist’s studio.  Each card is then signed by the artist and hand packaged and delivered to your doorstep.

Will it take a long time to receive my order of handmade fine art greeting cards?

Most of our orders for handmade greeting cards ship out within 1 week of your order. We understand the urgency of our consumer-driven lifestyles and try to create and send your order of handmade greeting cards as quickly and efficiently as possible.

THE HOFFMANN FAMILY PORTRAITS

Meet the Hoffmann family!  I feel so honored to have taken their very first professional family portraits.  Their son is truly a miracle baby as he was born with some health challenges early on and spent his first month living in an incubator.  He is such an adorable little guy!  I even got some photographs of their furry friends.

SAN SIMEON CREEK TRAIL

Quite a number of years ago I went winter camping in December at San Simeon State Park.  The nights were so cold as temperatures fell to about 17 to 20 degrees.  It was quite chilly in my tent.  But the days were gorgeous.

I had had an insanely busy year traveling and photographing a number of black-and-white film landscapes for the galleries.  It was a very productive year for creating new works.  I needed a break and some time to relax.  So, I decided to go camping and hike the wonderful San Simeon Creek Trail.  I also visited the spectacular and enchanting Hearst Castle.  I just love that place.

One morning, as I was getting ready for my hike ... I decided to take photographs of the trail ... but in a different way.  Instead of a grand landscape, which is my usual style, I decided to take close-ups of my subjects.  My goal was to see things differently through my viewfinder, and in doing so, I found so much beauty within arm's reach.

I specialize in environmental portraiture and the use of natural light.  What is that you ask?  Well, here is how it works.  You pick a location... it could be someplace fun like the beach or a park.  It could be downtown, with an urban setting.  All are great locations.  It can also be a special family spot... don't be afraid to think outside the box.  I can also suggest some wonderful locations.  You can wear holiday clothing colors (even fancy holiday sweaters and Santa hats if you choose) or just something nice and casual that you feel comfortable in.

Holiday photo sessions can be used by individuals, couples, kids or families of up to 4 people.  Additional people and/or pets are $25 each.  Weekday photo sessions are available as well as weekends, but they always fill up fast, so schedule today!

REVOLT IN STYLE

Back in 1996 and 1997, I did freelance work for Revolt in Style Magazine.  At the time, it was a small group of creative and innovative guys sharing a one room office in Pacific Beach.  I would get my assignment, along with 2 rolls of slide film.  They gave me complete creative freedom in creating the covers for them.  Once I completed the photo shoot, I would then drop off the slide film at the office and they would process it.  The next day, we would get together and go through the slides and view them on a light-box.  It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed collaborating with the staff and picking out the final image for the magazine cover.
